The dragonfly immediately stops approaching and starts circling the clearing from a safe distance.

"Care for a drink then?"

The doc calls.

Gustav the Rat

*does quick doubletake...making sure the doctors gun isn't pointed at him*

Sees the general direction of the dragonfly-thing. He then draws his own pistol..and takes a bead.

"There doesn't seem to be much else around here..." he then scuttles back towards the group,

(OOC: Flee in fear dragonfly-thing... ::))

The baron reaches out to the dragonfly quietly, seeking an ally, "We seek allies.  May we approach safely?"  He motions for the doctor and others to lower their weapons.

You seem to be having trouble concentrating and communicating, the recent battle has left you fatigued ( i.e. you've run out of PEP's and need to rest to regain them)

"You want us to lower what?"

Asks the doctor incredulously.

"I aint gonna let no giant bug near me.  The rodent is bad enough ..."

His furry eyebrows come together in a look of concentration or is that constipation... as he traces the flight of the giant insect.

After all he wouldn't want to shoot the wrong thing...

The dragonfly hovers for a few more seconds then turns and flys away.  You are now alone in the clearing, with the exception of the body of your medic.
There is a path leading out of the clearing heading in a direction we can call south, towards the back of the ship, and another path leading north towards the front, which would be the direction that you came from one deck below, as well as the faint path west that you followed from the hatch to the clearing.  South was the direction that the train was heading.

"Nice one baron," laughs the sobering doctor.  "Obviously the bug thought your intellect was beneath him..."

Prescott Harland - Derelict Ship, Jungle Trek (nurturing vengeance)

Prescott had been silent for a long while, nurturing dark thoughts of vengeance and murder.
He didn't care for the dragonfly and what was said so obsessed was he becoming.

The spell was broken when the foul mouth of his deeply negative warped emotions uttered their latest words
"Oh ? Look who's the one to talk." with scorn and disgust clear in the voice

"Hmmm...  Indeed.  And you would know this how, oh magnificent intelligence to great to be contained within one skull?"

Takes a second glance at the doctor to see if he had a second head that he hadn't noticed before....

He'd seen some strange stuff in his time....

The doctor (now the only healer available to the diminishing crew) ignores his critics for the moment.  He crouches to examine the body.

There are several wounds on the body, but upon close examination none of them seem to be serious enough to have killed the medic.  As odd as it seems, the best explanation seems to be that he simply had the life drained out of him.

"He's dead guys, but not from these wounds.  Some life-draining creature, probably hideous and abused as an infant, did this.  Hey Baron, know anthing that might fit that description?"

He checks his weapon-cell before reassuring Dutch, "don't worry lower life-forms like space-grunts are probably immune..."

I've heard of creatures capable of that in my training.  Unfortunately, it was only a passing comment in the class.

Sniffs the air, then looks around for tracks.... "Arks.... Arks did it, probably. Those things we has a fight with back there. I've heard they can not only do damage with their minds, they can heal themselves by draining anothers life-force."

"Was he your friend?" he asks the group.

Prescott seems to calm down

Dutch

"Well, we aint gunna get nowhere standin' here." Dutch said, "So once Gus is finished here, let's move on south to get what we came for." With that Dutch edged closer to the southern end of the clearing.
