If you want to make your characters from scratch follow down through these step by step process and fill out a finalized character sheet and post it in that other thread.

While I couldn't type EVERYTHING out for you, I did type a lot up.  You will need to talk to me about Benefits, Flaws, Qualities, etc. if you want something special.  For now we can skip those parts. 

If you want to take one of the pregenerated characters in the fast play rules and tweak it, that is fine with me too.

Step One: Age

Pick one.

Step Two: Status

Status is determined by your place within the house, but you also have to pay for it when you put your Ability Ranks in later.

Foreign Merchant Prince 2
Other children Status 2
Servants, Squires, Common Smallfolk 1


Step Three: Determine Role

Pick one of the following.  These are really just suggestions on where to spend more xp to bump up your Abilities later.  They can be helpful though with how to role-play your character.

Expert.  These are people that are specialized in an area of knowledge or skill.  Maesters, Septons, blacksmiths, scholars, kennelmasters, master of horse, etc.
Key Abilities: Anything you want to specialize in.

Fighter.  Yep, they fight things. 
Key Abilities: Agility, Animal Handling, Athletics, Endurance, Fighting, Marksmanship, and Warfare.

Leader.  You lead people, and tell them what to do. 
Key Abilities: Cunning, Endurance, Fighting, Persuasion, Status, and Warfare.

Rogue.  The rogue diversifies and is a generalist knowing a little about a lot of things.  Thieves, disgraced nobles, viscous killers, etc.   
Key Abilities: Agility, Awareness, Cunning, Fighting, Marksmanship, Persuasion, Stealth, and Thievery.

Schemer.  Masters of intrigue. You enjoy playing the Game of Thrones.  You can negotiate, and use words like weapons.
Key Abilities: Awareness, Cunning, Deception, Knowledge, Language, Persuasion, Status, and Will.

Mixed Roles.  Feel free to mix two or more of these to help with a character concept, and where to assign your Ability Ranks later on.


Step Four: Determine Background

Pick one.

You served another house (page, squire, sworn sword).
You had a torrid love affair.
You fought in a battle.
You were kidnapped and escaped, or you were ransomed or rescued.
You traveled across the Narrow Sea and spent time there.
You performed a great deed, maybe saving the life of your Lord, killed a giant beast, etc.
You were in the company of a famous individual for a time.
You were present and did well in a tournament of the King's.
You were involved in some sort of scandal.
You were falsely accused of wrongdoing.
You were held hostage by another house as a ward or prisoner.
Or, make something else up.
 

Step Five: Goal & Motivations

Pick one.

Enlightenment, Skill (Mastery in a specific ability), Fame, Knowledge, Love, Power, Security, Revenge, Wealth, Justice, or Good.

Pick one.

Charity, Duty, Fear, Greed, Love, Hatred, Lust, Peace, Stability, Excellence, or Madness.


Step Six: Virtues & Vices

Pick one.

Charitable, Chaste, Courageous, Devoted, Honest, Humble, Just, Magnanimous, Merciful, Pious, or Wise.

Pick One of these too.

Ambitious/Grasping, Arrogant, Avaricious, Cowardly, Cruel, Foolish, Licentious, Miserly, Prejudiced, Scheming, or Wrathful.


Step Seven: Assign Abilities

Each Ability starts out with a Rank of 2 for free. 

Based on the age of your character you have so many Experience Points to spend to bump up your Ability Ranks. 

If you drop an Ability down to 1 you gain +50 experience points to spend on other Abilities.  I wouldn't do that for more than one ability though, as rolling 1 dice will be a severe flaw.  Still, if you want to, go for it.  Just don't come cryin' to me when I ask you to roll that Ability.  hehe.  ;)

Remember they all start out at Rank 2, so a +1 would take your Ability Rank up to 3.

+2 40 xp
+3 70 xp
+4 100 xp
+5 130 xp


Step Eight: Assign Specialties

You have a number of Experience Points to spend on Specialties to give you Bonus Dice which are based on the age of your character.

You can't have more bonus dice than your total Ability Rank.  So if you have Fighting 4, you can have up to +4B.

Each Ability Specialty starts out at +0, so when you add a +1B you will list that next to the specialty name.

For example if you bought +1B for a skill it would be: Fighting 4, Axes +1B.

+6B 60 xp
+7B 70 xp

Step Nine: Destiny Points & Benefits

Your character's age determines how many Destiny Points you start out with.

You can invest some of these Destiny Points into Benefits.  You can only have so many benefits based on age.

See below for another post about the Benefits.


Step Ten: Flaws & Drawbacks

All Adult or older characters start with one Drawback.  There are a lot of these too.  We can try to figure them out if anyone picks an older character. 

If you take a Drawback you can also get +1 Destiny Point.


Step Eleven: Starting Possessions

Roll your Status, and that is how many Gold Dragons you have to buy exceptional equipment with.  For the most part though, I'm fine with whatever makes sense for your character.  :)


Step Twelve: Derived Stats

Intrigue Defense = Awareness + Cunning + Status

Composure = 3 x Will

Combat Defense = Agility + Athletics + Awareness + Defense Bonus (from Shield or Parrying Weapon) - Armor Penalty.

Health = 3 x Endurance

Armor Rating = The type of armor you are wearing

Damage = These are all based on the weapons you pick and your Abilities.
