Start Here. Go ahead and give me the concept you have for your character. Since things are different in this alternate reality we will work on the concept together.
"How do you hold on to an angel?"

"Hook em by the wing joint. You know where it jogs in there? Clip or a claw... a snare would do it."

OK conceptually I'm thinking of making a guy who is/was a 'free climber' (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free_climbing) and Parkour competitor, sponsored by Red Bull (or a "Famous Energy Drink") maybe?

23 years old, a real modern day, casual lifer - enjoys gadgets (iPads, iPod etc).  He's come into a lot of money but really isn't too fussed about it.  He's a "happy-go-lucky" type, with a good collection of tight friends.

To put it to attributes, he's more dextrous than strong, more wise than intelligent and very charismatic.

Loose I know, but that's the skeleton.

Close enough and good enough. Skeletons are fine as they get fleshed out during play.

I have seen Freerunners before, it's some amazing stuff.

Ok, so do you have any experience with GURPS of any edition flavor?

I've used a GURPS character creator before but that's about the limit of it. d20 stuff isn't it?

Nope, GURPS is Steve Jackson Games. It's a standalone system. 3d6 based.

No, that's not a problem. I just needed to know how much you knew before we begin.

I could design a character and give it to you that we work up as we decide on him.

Have you ever played Hero?

Not a problem. I was just going to tell you they were similar systems in a lot of ways.

It might be helpful if you went to the Steve Jackson Games site and downloaded GURPS 3rd Ed Lite rules.

They are free and will give you an idea of how the system works.

Do you want me to give a shot at designing a character or is the manual for game play reasons?

Well, both. You can go ahead and work on your character if you like. At least you can see the Attributes that he would have.

My guess is for Free Runner he would have to be around

St: 11[10]
Dx: 12[20]
IQ: 10
HT: 10

Which would be 30 points. For a world class athlete, then his attributes would be higher.

Just get some ideas on disadvantages he might take, and advantages you would look for.

They will be 50 point characters. They can have up to 40 points of disadvantages and 5 points of quirks.
