"I think we should just run now. Us. Let's get gone."
"How do you hold on to an angel?"

"Hook em by the wing joint. You know where it jogs in there? Clip or a claw... a snare would do it."

Luke looks to Chance and says, “I am concerned about the two of us drive back together…remember last time we rode together?  What do you think about you heading back to the cabin and I will meet you there once I pick up a few things.  You could stop by the house and grab the 4-wheeler if you feel safe doing it.”

Luke says, “OK then we are out of here now.  Let’s drive toward the house and you can drop me off and head back down to Williamstown Lake, and I will join you there tomorrow.  Then we are out of here!”  As Luke says this he starts the car and begins driving back toward the farm.

He grins as they pull out.

(Is he going straight home?)

Luke heads home, but at the Route 16/17 split he heads west on Route 16.  Then he takes Green Road south.  He pulls into the development behind the winery and heads to the far east side.  He stops the car and puts it in park.  "Time to switch drives," says Luke "You head down to the cabin and I will meet you there tomorrow.  I have a few things to take care of at home before we head out."

Luke hops out of the car and says, "Chance, be safe and have a good night, I will see you in the morning!"  He waves and heads east toward the winery.  Once he reaches Spillman Road he follows it north and east to the intersection with Route 17.  He follows Route 17 north to the Hammersmith's house, then cuts through their property down to the pond.  From the pond he follows the same trail he and Chance used the other day on their way home from fishing.  What a crazy week!  I learn that there are aliens/others among us; they are running the media, if not more; there is a resistance, feeble as it might be; my son knows this and has been fighting them; I am about to go on the lamb in a van that reeks of sewage; my son and I will be executed (if we are lucky) if we get caught!   Not the new year I had expected!

(Back when Luke went shopping at Walmart, I had developed a shopping list and only bought half the items.  Now I am having trouble finding that list again, if I don't find it in a few days I will recreate and post again)

Luke makes himself a cup of tea and takes short break after his walk.  Well I guess there is no putting it off any longer, it is just not safe to stay here any longer.  I don’t think it will be safe to ever return, well at least not until we expose the Prolokian presence and begin to reclaim our world.  I need to try to remember everything we will need/want and anything we don’t want them to find.  With that thought Luke gets up and roots through the trash to pulls out all of the receipts from Chance’s car.  He uses these to start a fire in the fireplace along with some kindling and a few small logs.  Once he is sure it has caught, he goes and gets his rolodex.  With much regret he pulls the cards out and adds them to the blaze.  Then he begins to move camping equipment (and everything from his initial equipment list he has not already moved to the cabin) up from the basement and makes a pile in the mud room.  Then he heads upstairs and pulls all of his files from Dick Koze’s cabin project on Williamstown Lake.  Then he gathers any family photos he can find and puts them in a box in the mud room.  He gathers a toolbox and any miscellaneous tools he has laying around the house.  Then he gathers whatever alcohol he has around the house and boxes it up.  Then he begins loading everything into the van.

Then he gathers his metal detector and a shovel.  He checks the clock and makes sure it is after 2:00 AM or waits till after that hour before he begins.  He moves to the backyard and begins to dig up his guns and ammo stored there so long ago.  He is vigilant for any sounds, light or motion while he works.  Having verified the location of each just a few days ago he should not have much trouble locating them even in the dark.  As he unearths each one he moves it to the chicken coup and hides them under the hen house.

When he is done he puts the shovel and metal detector in the van.  He has a final cup of tea and reflects on this nights work.  What did I miss?  He goes to the fireplace and adds several more logs to the fire.  That should help hide the ashes of the things I burned.  Then he grabs the shell of his rolodex and places it back on his desk, empty.  What else did I forget?  He plays out scenario after scenario is his head trying to figure out what he may have missed.  Finally, he heads to bed still doubting himself, but not being able to think of anything else to do.  He sets his alarm for 6:00 AM, knowing that he will be tired in the morning but not wanting to wait any later to get up.
