Hayek, any chance you could create a thread to help us remember who's who on the Council? Especially the NPCs. I'm with you so far, but I'm sure gonna lose track as the game progresses.

I trade with both Burgundy and France. It has been three years since I was in France; but I was last in Burgundy this October past.

LOL Ok I plead ignorance...  in our setting, is Burgundy part of France, or is it still an independent kingdom?

I was a history major, but that was 20 years ago, and I was a mediocre student... I confess most of what I know about medieval geography comes from Crusader Kings 2...

LOL.

Truth be told, I'm not extremely accurate when it comes to the dates. I'm mainly basing myself on the 15th century, but what's 50 years in either direction among friends? ;)
Anyway, France acquired most of Burgundy in 1477, and for the purposes of this game, that hasn't happened yet.

And yes, I'll make an overview of the members of the Ten, and other noteworthy people. I'll need it myself as well.

Ok, overview has been made, though I'll need to supplement it with some other people later on.

Who are the candidates for Doge? Are they from the Signoria? Or is it a larger pool of contenders?

Basically any prominent noble could be a candidate. The system of election was beyond byzantine, in that it consisted of numerous rounds of people being chosen to consider names, and the resulting electoral college would be reduced by lot only to add new electors after that.  In the end, you'd have a bunch of people who would have broad support (to elect, not necessarily to be doge themselves) but from within that category they would be there by chance. Within that final electoral college a supermajority among the electors would be needed, but they could consider any name from the noble families of Venice.

I'll explain in more detail when we  get there, but any Nobleman is potentially electable.

Hayek, starting Thursday I’ll be offline for awhile. I will probably not be able to post regularly again until early Dec.

Please NPC Ipato / Teodoro as you see fit.

Guys, as much as it pains me, I simply lack the time and energy to play this one the right way now. I want to do it justice. I realise it may be hard to fire it up again later, but as I have at least another month of limited time ahead, maybe longer, I think it's best to place this one on a break till mid May or thereabouts.

Hopefully I can keep The Perilous Realm going in the meantime, but two games, with this one demanding proper historical color, is just too much for me for the time being.

I'll poke everyone when we continue.

Yeah, I totally understand.  Take the time you need!  I’ll be ready to go when you want to pick back up.
