Considering blatant threats, but that might not be the best way. Really am looking for suggestions.

Well, it might be more effective if we can convince them we have something they want. I say either we lie and try to make them believe we want to do "legitimate" business with Gavreh-Taan, or we just flat-out try to bribe them.

I concur that deception would seem the best way to go. Might be easier than combat for a change...

"Plus who is going to be consoling Sorak there?"

"The commander raises a valid concern," Sorak replied with his usual aplomb, "As you can see, I am beside myself with worry."

I believe we have settled on lying to them; I will look up what that entails tonight after work.

"Because I asked nicely," Treuva responded. "And because there's a commission. Taan knows some things we want to know, and we're willing to pay for that information. I'd be willing to pay you a percentage of his fee for your trouble."

OOC: Okay, this is a Deception tactic attempt.

Patrick, Treyva's task will be a Persuasion + Command task vs. Difficulty 2, opposed by the sister's Daring + Command vs. Difficulty 2. Her brother and the human will assist her.

Treyva's Cultural Flexibility will apply, reducing his difficulty to 1.

If the deception succeeds, we'll then resolve the Social task (getting them to take you to Gavreh-Taan).

I dislike the look of that. Should have invoked a Directive....

OOC: 3 successes, vs. Difficulty 2. Success +1 Momentum generated.

Since this is a tie, Treyva succeeds, with no Momentum generated. The three amigos now receive the temporary Trait "Getting Paid." which now becomes an Asset for Treyva's Social Task.

Presence + Command vs. Difficulty 2. Trio's "Getting Paid" Trait reduces this to Difficulty 1, and Treyva's Cultural Flexibility reduces it further to Difficulty 0.

OOC: Success, plus 2 Momentum generated.

The three lackeys exchange glances, then lean in toward each other and begin to speak in the siblings' native tongue.

"Ayed chaaral?" the rough human asks.

The brother chimed in. "Yarramovai ilenak chaaral goosh?"

"Monn haakerr voo shao," his sister replied.

The brother shook his head. "Taansa monn folavo."

"Ilenk monn mindo," she added with a shrug. They parted and turned their attention back to Treyva, and she said, "How much coin?"

OOC: Okay, so, I had a little fun and created a little bit of Orion for the scene. I don't remember if any of your characters has established a fluency in Orion, but I have the translated words for those that do.

Meanwhile...
Without waiting for Cole's answer, the mob lieutenant adds, "Who were you looking for?"

Fed Standard, Denobulan, conversational in Klingon and Caitian...but no Orion. I could see Sorak knowing some; I seem to recall his wife having some dealings with Orions. I would be stunned if Mia didn't know any.

Treyva returned her gaze. "Final payment is contingent on what he charges us, with a minimum of ten percent. If his rates are reasonable, fifteen percent." He leaned back. "If you need earnest money, I can offer a thousand darseks up front." He looked at Mia as he said it.

According to Memory Alpha, that could get you a Nausicaan disruptor pistol 40 years ago, so yeah, he's (knowingly) low-balling them as a prelude to bargaining the up-front.

OOC: Bank Momentum, aye.

Mia's eyes go wide for a brief instant before she remembers something and reaches into an inside pocket of her vest, producing a credit stick of Klingon design. Placing it on the table between the trio, she says as she keeps her hand firmly on it, "One-thousand darseks. But you take us to him right now."

They trade glances again, and the sister nods. "Deal."

Mia smiles at the Denobulan.

OOC: Okay, we need Renny to finish his scene, and we can move on.
