So the question is from the scenario I described, how realistically would civilization be coming along.
I don't know if I agree with the standard of new tribal groups running around. I guess that people would have to band together to survive, but I am not certain how quickly normal modern man would devolve to primative tribal groups. I tend to think that the survivors would join together in communities, but would retain some vestige of whatever their governance was before the catastrophe. I can see them raising their children following the same cultural leanings.
For example, I can't see people gathering together and wearing leather harnesses and feathers to identify themselves with each other, or being very successful if they did. I think that people are far more practical then that, and given the situation and the difficulty of survival to begin with I think they would dress in whatever was practical for their situation, rather then creating some weird Hollywood atmosphere.

depends on if any authentic non tech people still exist.
Like if civilization fell today, you might see the few remaining coherent amerindian tribes being quite successful in the post apocalyptic world. . . .a tradition of self sufficiancy, hunting, etc would serve them well. And the feathers, ritual and other stuff fill the whole we moderns currently fill with stuff like Haut Couture, Television and Movies, which often seem just as silly.
On that same vein, you often find a large supply of rednecks in generation 2 of the post apocalypse, another group closer to their pre-modern survival skills than most.

That's true.
I see there being fewer non-tech groups then we have currently. At least in the U.S. Especially with the cheap centralized power idea. But they would still exist.
I was thinking along the lines of Neo-savages. But realistically, I guess there would grow to be some mysticism about what had been, and what currently was.

Medieval reenacters would probably be highly prized. Especially the craftsmen.
