.FCW uploads for Campaign Cartographer maps
« on: October 04, 2008, 12:41:09 AM »
The Downloads area does not allow uploading of Campaign Cartographer files (.FCW). This is the best way to provide these maps given the free viewer available and its ability to scale and keep resolution. I have tried jpgs in the past but they loose too much resolution to see building numbers.

Can .FCW files be added to the list of allowable uploads?

ictus has only allowed certain file types to be uploaded to the downloads section (security reasons)

If you .zip/.rar the file you can then upload it without a problem.

I tried using the built-in compression in WinXP (Type compressed (zipped) folder) to upload a map and I get the following error:

Unable to load the 'main' template.

The current version of WinZip (12.x) requires purchase with a trial period. Do I need that? Again, I request permission to add .FCW files.

is the file:

Powers & Perils - Mordara Area Map

If it is, you successfully uploaded it. . .that error message is annoying, it has to do with the fact that you're a non admin and one of the admins needs to approve the file. . .Ictus is working on that. . .I'll go aprove the file

Unable to load the 'main' template.

Using my best deductive reasoning powers, all this means is that there is a missed call to load the main template for the forums.  If you ignore it and click forums in the upper tabs below the Main Upper Section, you'll go back to forums.

Furthermore, the file was uploaded.  It just may not seem so.  Celedor and I have tested this and files upload, but you still get the "Unable to load the 'main' template" error.  Just click where you wish to go (I usually choose the Forum tab.  Eventually, the file will be approved and will appear in the downloads section.

Hope helps.

I think it has to do with a check on approval, as I don't get that message if I upload a file. . .and the only differnece is that my files self approve (I check the approved box as I upload it.)

I think you said it best here:

...that error message is annoying, it has to do with the fact that you're a non admin and one of the admins needs to approve the file...  Ictus is working on that...  I'll go aprove the file
