Do you have a HARPSF character sheet (excel or OO)?

I think the one at the top of the page is the most up to date version:

I used a kludged together one ... it doesn't properly handle leveling ... but it works!

Blew.
I just recognized that I have HARP SciFi Beta.
Download at ICE shop only gives me HARP SciFi Beta again,
I have to ask Tim at the shop ...

And I hoped in this HARP game,
I won't be the brake-block ... again  :(

I don't think there is much difference in character generation between beta and gamma, from what I can recall.

Thanks for the offer, Thom.

I never signed up for the HARP SciFi Discussion Forum
and suppose that is the reason I were missed with the update.
___

But it gets worse:

The HARP SF character sheet doesn't function with my StarOffice 7.

I'm doomed with character sheets.
(Download states that 571 KB were downloaded, Information states that the Sheet has 586 KB.   )

Fortunately, I'm now better with HARP character creation (Thanks to Thom).

An another question to the cloning effect:

With the memory transfer the clone knows that she is a clone and who the donor is, correct ?
(For a famous donor there will be pictures in the press.)

With this knowledge, should not the same family name be used ?

That is correct.  Some clones keep the same name, first and last, others choose to change one or the other or both

The next question:

Profession Adaptability
I can't get it.
Is this free ?
Else I spend (a yet unknown number of) DPs to save 5 DPs once.

The result of a "Prof. Change" is that the favored categories and professional boni change,
the skills of the old profession might now cost 4 DP.

Skill Flexibility
It is chosen for a skill to change from 4 DP to 2 DP cost (wow, need this for Cold Steel poke, poke).

My current Stat Set results in 35 DPs.
With spending some of them to increase stats I get the 40 points needed to change Prof. and
the improvement of Strength and Constitution on second level, nothing left for another Talent.
(Maybe I improve my stats further to buy one.)

And a final question (for now )

Is there a MSO missing ?
I'm thinking of Demolition Expert with a grenade launcher (Heavy Weapon Expert).

___

BTW Tim is on the "quest" to get HARP SciFi Gamma to me.

Yes, it is free, if you take it a Prof Change costs 15, if you don't then it costs 20

Don't forget that you get double DP's at first level. Also, if people are having trouble fitting every thing in in four levels, I could expand Character generation to 5 levels

Could be.  I just included the MSO's as guidelines, they aren't written in stone, although I thought there was one that fit that description under the Marines.  I'll double check.  Go ahead with that as a Character concept if you want.  It fits fine

level 3 dp for agility/reasoning talent: ambidextrous  (second talent sure shot if alble)
level 4

MSO Marine scout (infiltration and Observation)

Background information write up awaiting generation of character.

Does Earth at this point have a general culture, or can we pick what we want?

I chose "Frontier", it fits with my concept. . .I'll change if it's an issue.

Is there any benefit to TPs in HARP SF, other than the fact that you get a pre-selected bunch of skills? (Is there discounting or any sort of bonus involved?)

(Depending on the GM changing things ...) the Earth is not that much more homogenised than today ... but assumes that Megacorps are at least as important as regional governments ... the "UN" really only "rules" wrt extra-terrestrial affairs (which is one of the reasons why seeing the Synners retrun to earth would be disruptive ... they would be loyal to the UN, not to regional governments)

TP's grant a 25% discount oon skill costs

A favoured skill gained via a TP costs 1.5DPs per rank
An unFavoured skill gained via a TP costs 3DPs per rank

TP's do NOT change max skill rank levels (always 3*(lvl+1)) ... thus a first level character has a max of 6 ranks in any single skill

A TP that raises a skill above this level COSTS the same, but the character does NOT gain the rank (even at higher levels) (Some GMs may allow such "overspending", but the character only benefits from the extra ranks the following level)

Example:

[L1] Character gains 2 ranks in First Aid due to culture and takes a TP that gives him an additional 5 ranks (total = 7)
Cost of TP = (5*1.5) = 7.5 DP (fractions are only rounded after EVERYTHING is purchased)
Character benefits from 4 of these ranks, but must pay for all 5

By default, when spending ranks at [L2], the character is considered to have only 6 ranks (and thus can develop up to 3 ranks, and must pay for them all) ... if the GM allows, the character may be considered to have 7 ranks (and thus can buy and develop 2 ranks ... but gains 1 rank "automatically").

I dislike the logic of discounted TPs. . .they shift the logic from "constructing according to a coherent concept limited by my imagination" to "construct around a coherent concept limited to the author's imagination". . .(I'd hope that any GM worth his salt would break his foot off in your arse for constructing without concept.) but it seems silly not to take advantage. . .when in rome. . .
