Jesse (Gold) Owens
« on: December 03, 2008, 03:42:12 AM »
Jesse (Gold) Owens

5'10”  165 lbs. Close cut hair, brown eyes. 15 years old.

Jesse was raised by his mother (Emma) after his father died in Vietnam.  His mother works two jobs to help provide for Jesse and his three sisters – Loni, Toni and Ronnie.  Loni is 2 years older and generally cares for the younger sisters, both of whom were fathered by men other than Loni and Jesse’s father – Terrence.

Jesse was asked to join the Warriors after he assisted one of the younger members by racing to find the other Warriors when the young Warrior was isolated by a few of the Destroyers.  As the Warriors showed up the beating had just started, but it ended quite differently than the Destroyers had expected.  Jesse’s quick thinking and quicker movement made him well-liked by his new brothers.

Jesse is not much of a fighter, nor is he a big ladies man.  Jesse is a smart guy, who if it were not for his home life, would likely have ended up an honor student with dreams of law school – but fate has delivered a different life.   As a member of the Warriors, Jesse is considered to be the little brother to most of the gang, but despite that he is still considered to be the best runner they have. He is agile, smart and far faster than any other within the brotherhood.  Funny thing about his role in the gang, is that Jesse thinks of the Warriors as older brothers in one sense, but also considers it his job to keep his head straight and be extremely wary at all times to protect his family.

He will fight if he is pushed to do it, but he is more likely to be keeping an eye on things and alerting the others as to what risks there are in the area.

Jesse wears the standard jeans and leather vest, with sneakers.  Underneath his vest he often wears a tank top shirt, but one item he always wears is a bead necklace with a circular dream catcher at the bottom. A braided rope belt is threaded around his pants with the knot slightly off center and having multiple feathers hanging down from it.

In preparation for battle Jesse will often carry some missile weapons (fire-bombs, rocks, etc.) and in case of emergency he can use his knife, either as a melee weapon or a throwing blade.

(Edit Note - Circular medallion changed to a dream catcher to better fit the Native American motif.)

Jesse has been running around Brooklyn for Cleon checking out other rival gangs as the loss of the Destroyers could potentially open up a struggle for C.I.

Nothing has been out of the ordinary. Even the largest gang by membership in Brooklyn - The Bensenhurst Bashers don't want to deal with the Warriors. Coney Island is a bit too dangerous (even for them) and the way the Warriors dispached the Destroyers was quick and effective. It got people talking......

I need a roll for Streetwise (16-) and for perception (12-)

All rolls unless otherwise noted will be 3d6

Right now there are no modifiers. Low is good.

As you are travelling across Brooklyn, most people are staying away from you. The other gang scouts usually meet up to talk about what is happening. There is rumbling about what is going on in Manhattan. Seems like the leader of the Gramecery Riffs, a man named Cyrus is talking about taking over the city. Some people are saying it is a bunch of talk, but there are others who say this could be the gangs time. The time to take everything back from the Man. You stay quiet. You know it is best to gather information, not make any.

On the way home from your latest trip, you are on the train going towards Coney when you spot a group of people not wearing colors, but definatly a gang riding along going your way. You are far enough where they could be getting off before Coney, but you don't know.

Jesse keeps a low profile, maintaining an easy escape path to the next train, but tries to keep close enough to either be in ear shot or at least keep an eye on them.

From what you can see they are hanging out together. There are five of them. Noting to clearly indicate they are from a gang, but you have been around the street long enough to know how gang members act. The leader is a tall lanky hispanic male. The rest of the men are of mixed heritage as well. They are wearing jeans and sneakers with cut-sleeve shirts. The leader is wearing dark sunglasses.

You cannot hear anything except the normal goofing around of a group of men together.

You are on an old 70's train. It is a single seat attached to the walls of the train. The only break in the seating is when it reaches the door. The hand rails for people standing are individual and not along a straight line. These things move back when not in use.

Jesse maintains his positioning, keeping an eye on the handful nearby peripherally, but also occasionally glancing through the window of the door towards the next train to ensure his escape is clear.

The group is sitting in the middle of the car on your left. You are sitting near the end of the car so as to use the doors between cars if needed.

The leader notices you sitting there, but doesn't make mention of it to anyone in the group nor does anyone turn around to stare you down.

The train reaches Prospect Park on the QB line. You have a ways to go until Coney Island. There is only one other gang you know of between here and home.

Jesse counts the stops in his head, roughly 15 more to go, and all pretty short trips.  He knows that the M and N trains also run the same route with the same stops, so if their is need, he could probably switch lines, but for now he simply waits and keeps his distance.

If the leader should happen to focus his attention on Jesse, Jesse will return a respectful nod, but show no signs of agression or fear.

The trip is uneventful. The group stays on the train with you till West 8th street. Then they get off the train.

You watch the group get off and walk towards the stairs. Your instinct is to go directly to Cleon and let him know what is going on.

You get off at Stillwell Avenue/Coney Island. It is a small walk back to the safehouse. You will pass the Amusement park front with the penny arcade and sideshows.

Jesse pauses at the train station long enough to confirm the site's clear.  He then begins to head towards the safehouse. At first he walks at a casul pace, but then decides he could use a workout.  He alternates between a fast walk and a jog... finally slowing down once he reaches the penny arcade area.

You reach the Penny Arcade with no problems. You stop to take a look around there. There are lots of people entering and playing games. It looks like Tony is making a huge haul, which means the Warriors is making something as well.

The regular girls walking up and down surf avenue notice you and nod to say hi. Protection from pimps and outside forces is something you provide, and in return the girls....well you know the drill.

One girl in peticular, Amber or at least thats what she calls herself waves at you and call you over......."Some weird people in the neighborhood. Tried rustling with the girls earlier today. They are gone now, but I don't know. They looked like they wanted something. When Georga asked one of them for money for what they wanted, the leader, a slimey looking troll with a leather jacket told her that they didn't need to pay her. They all laughed and rode off in a odd looking car used for funerals."

Jesse listens carefully, clearly unhappy with the news, but does his best to maintain a straight face. "Thanks Amber, we'll take care of it, but if you see that car in C.I. again, try to find one of us.  Did the jacket or car have any other markings on them?"

As Jesse speaks with her he glances towards Georga to see how she's doing, and then looks up and down the avenue for any other news.
