This thread is for posting the background story for your character.  Who there donor was and why they decided to donate genetic material to be cloned.

Alex Weller,  clone offspring of Peter Murphy

Alex remembers the early life of Peter Murphy as if it were his own.  Peter was your standard issue clean-cut police officer.  He grew up in a small town in Duchess County, just North of New York City.  During his high school years Peter was a star prospect on the grid iron playing Running Back, and leading the team with records for total yards and touchdowns.  His high school girlfriend was Annie Johnson, co-captain of the cheerleader squad, and the two of them were the perfect couple throughout school and even won the homecoming king and queen during their senior year.  Despite numerous scholarship offers, Peter chose to follow in the footsteps of his father, and went to the Bronx immediately after completing his police academy training.  He was a New York City cop - one of New York's Finest!  Annie got a job at a local department store, and a few years later the happy, young couple were blessed with a daughter. Little Christina was the sparkle in Peter's eye, and the smile on his face.  His world began and ended with her.... unfortunately those words were all too true.

It was soon after Peter accidentally stumbled upon a drug lord transporting narcotics.  He initially was only going to warn the driver regarding a broken tail-light, but when he looked beyond the driver he spotted a pistol underneath a jacket in the car. As he asked the driver to exit the vehicle, the driver reached for the gun - Peter quickly drew his gun and fired, but then the back doors opened.  Peter was outgunned 3 to 1 - but he refused to give up without a fight.  Kicking the door on his side closed he was able to temporarily stun the exiting thug, but on the other side two others popped out.  It all happened quicker than he could remember, but in the end, three thugs were dead, two were injured and while Peter had been shot, he still finished sitting still on the ground with his pistol trained upon the boss.  There Peter sat with his back to the car and blood flowing freely from a pair of bullet wounds.

As Peter was recovering in the hospital, and preparing to give his testimony that was expected to ensure the drug lord would be charged formally - it was that day that Alex was born.  Peter was informed that he would not be able to return to active duty due to his wounds received in the shootout.  If he could not return to active duty, he could sign up to be a genetic donor for the UTRPF.

That's about as much as Alex knows about Peter's life...  What wasn't included in his stored memories is the fact that when Peter testified and then returned home... he found his wife and daughter both dead.

Conrad Barnes, clone of Dr. Henry O'Malley

Henry is a brilliant research scientist, with two PhD's to his name in addition to his MD, all before his 30th birthday. Specialising in the study of the novel pharmaceutical and biochemical effects of xenobiologics on human biochemistry, his research for Zetacorp Pharmaceuticals has proven at times to be more pragmatic than ethical ... always encouraged by his corporate paymasters - he was one of the team that designed synner-chem accelerated growth process.

He always dreamed of actually travelling to distant planets, but decided that it is probably safer to let his clone do that! However, in creating his clone, he broke several protocols ... because of his fundamental understanding of the processes that created the Synners ... he was prohibited from participating in the clone program. Consequently, he generated the clone and memory dump via a torturous and Machiavellian series of underhanded tricks ... according to the Utterpuff records, Conrad is the clone of a pharmacist from upstate New York called Conrad Barnes.

This has led to a situation which Henry had not foreseen ... the divergence between Conrad's overt cover story, and his donor's real identity, coupled with a very clear understanding of their nature (beyond that of his companions) has led Conrad to develop a decidedly cynical and slightly paranoid outlook ... but he has hidden this from his trainers.

Finally - since the "real" Conrad Barnes does not actually exist, the pension being paid to the fictitious donor winds it's way into Conrad's personal account - this is "explained" because like a small number of other donors ... the "real" Conrad has chosen do donate the pension to make his clone's life that little bit more comfortable.

Note - Conrad/Henry chose Skill flexibility, not profession adaptability; with a personal interest in Forensics (Subterfuge)

Level 1 (41*2 DP) - developed "Doctor" and "Scientist"; Culture - Science.
Level 2 (42 DP) - 20 DPs stats; 20 DPs talents (Heat Resistance; Cold Resistance); remainder skills
Level 3 (46 DP) - 20 DPs stats; 20 DPs talents (Enhanced Senses; Physician); remainder skills. Talents can be taken a second time if the first time was due to Profession or Race.
Level 4 (46 DP) - deleveloped "Star Soldier" (basic combat training ... this sucked all his DP's; moved the 2 ranks in gunnery over to martial arts strikes)

Character sheet (with level-by-level breakdown) too large to attach as a single attachment ... will have to post each level in turn :(

To specify ... Conrad is assigned as an Aerospace (Junior) Doctor - Warrant Officer I, not a lowly Marine Medic!

I kinda fear playing a tech in a system I don't know well, it tends to be skill intensive.

It's why I chose a soldier in TJs Conan game, since a straight up warrior is clean and straghtforward. (I hope).

Don't know much about your character leaning - but maybe Pilot/Scout would be good.  Both professions favor Agility and Insight, with Pilot adding Quickness while Scout adds Strength and Con - both of which can be increased as a syn.

Just a suggestion..

just trying to work into the party logic. . .I don't have a compelling urge to any archetype. . .if we have a pilot, a medic/scientist, considering usual sci-fi games we need an engineer/tech perhaps a Driver/mechanic and perhaps a computer weenie.

We're on the small end of Brent's party size concept, so we'll all need to fight, but we should cover basic needs to avoid getting stuck NPC dependant.

That was the only reason I was thinking of playing a tech.

Understood - lets dig into it via email and perhaps I'll help you understand the skills stuff enough to buy into the tech role.

George W. followed a long family tradition which started at the end of the 20th century:
He got popularity as an actor and used it to be elected for a governmental position.
As another popular act he becomes a donor for the cloning process,
his fans shout with joy about, that way their hero could proof how though he is.

At this time Adam Ben Conan (or short ABC) was born.
And it is said that he resembles his grandgrand...grandfather who started the political tradition.
(Do ya need a picture ?)

Michael Petty was a tour guide. . .for extreme tours to the few remaining "Wild" zones, mostly in protected areas, and most of them almost innacessable for one reason or another. Traveling by hovercraft, boat, or air to remote places, then leading people off onto hikes even deeper into the boonies.

A Crash left him a quadraplegic, and even with "modern" medical treatment available to a man with a lot of money, he never quite got back the abilities needed to ride the razor's edge. . .growing more and more depressed, he eventually latched onto the Synthetic program as a means to be "Reborn" in a whole body. He was rejected twice on psych profile for being borderline suicidal.

A combination of a period of especially high demand and a 3rd psycher, who felt his suicidal tendancies related to the damaged state of his current body, and would not apply to his Synth. If anything, the memories were determined to probably be beneficial, in keeping the Synner a step back from the borderline recklessness of Mike's personality (that came close to, but didn't cause a 2nd psych rejection).

That he rated in the top percentile of candidates in overall performance in starship simulators (and in the top 10% in every individual category), and the high demand for synth's in piloting may also have let his marginal application pass.

He named his Synth Dale, and Dale Petty was cultured into a tank for growth.
