Gunnery - is broken down as follows:

Modern Direct (anti-aircraft; anti-tank)
Modern Indirect (Mortar; Indirect Artillery)
Black Powder Direct
Black Powder Indirect
Energy (by definition must be direct)
Missiles
Architect of Aecyr-Grene

I'm guessing it won't be black powder, but I'd be guessing what standard weapons for synth ships/ATAPC vehicles are.

Funny thing - I have the same question.....
I'm familiar with the way Gunnery breaks out, but what specific type of gunnery is applicable for this game - specifically for a heavy weapons expert.

The section on backgrounds reads -

Basic mission equipment for a heavy weapons expert includes a heavy pistol with HEJA rounds, a combat knife, a grenade launcher with six rounds of each grenade type, a flame thrower, and body armor with helmet array and transponder.

Additionally, my character has spent a bunch of DP (at various levels) developing his "weapon". Not sure what kind of weapon law enforcement would carry, and whether or not it fits into the weapons for the Heavy Weapons Expert.

Gunnery = vehicle-mounted weapons, or massive artillery pieces towed into position ... Your heavy weapons expert should develop his support weapony/spread weapony/handheld launchers as weapon skills, not gunnery skills

Note ... you develop the headline ("Support Energy" or "Large launcher" ... but select one speciality (Autoshotgun) ... all other weapons in the group can be used at a -10.

Medical Science: 84
Forensics: 55
Biology & Chemistry: 54 each
Psychology & Xenopsychology: 49 each (he might come to understand why the bugs are attacking; gives +25 bonus to tactics rolls if he succeeds is XenoPsych roll)
Planetology (Geology/etc): 39

Since dev has now extended to 5th level ... here's the next "final" build ...

I'll reread the questions on the Gunnery skills and do some comparing between Bughunters and HARP Sci Fi and get some clarifications to you.  Hopefully tomorrow, otherwise probably Friday (busy pretty much all day New Years Day)

Anyone else have their characters ready to send to me?
I know I've still got a few outstanding questions to answer.  Also have a couple NPC's to do up and some creature stats for the introductory adventure, but I think we are getting close to being able to start.

I'm also nearly ready to send - but where to ?

My PC is a little bit weak
(ABC = Alien Bait Coming)
best skill around 50, have to check TPs again.

Then I have to condense the level development to a readable version
(remember the Sheet out of the Vault doesn't function with my computer,
so I had to go the long way).

But I'm getting faster and faster ...

Never mind, found him.  Saved him to the wrong folder.
