[IC]- Bughunters - Chapter 1 - Guard Duty
« on: January 22, 2009, 11:48:25 PM »
"Alright you Hatchlings, just because you've finished your basic training and are getting ready to leave the Rookery, don't start thinking you're ready to hunt Bugs yet"
"Hunting Bugs is a privilege! You have to earn it, do you understand me?"
"Yes Sir!"
"Louder!"
"Yes Sir!"
"Alright, your first duty is an exciting one, Guard Duty! You're job for the next eight hours is stand at the Subway Station and make sure that everyone coming into our Zone is a member of the Military or has a proper Authorized Military Escort"
"I suggest you take this time to get to know each other better, you're a team from now on and success or failure at simple tasks will translate into success or failure at larger tasks, do you understand me?"

Conrad

Conrad looks up at the Officer, and then with a short but notable delay

"Yep", then with a slight pause "Yes Sir".

Why they send doctors on Guard Duty I'll never know! I'm fairly sure I outrank that chump ... but he's human.

"Doctor Conrad Barnes reporting for Duty"

His pose is one of suppressed irritation rather than one of Attention ...

Adam Ben Conan ABC Weisspfluger

After ABC shouted his "Sir, Yes, Sir".
He expects the punishment of the sloopy soldier at his side.
But a voice gives an explanation: "Doctor Conrad Barnes reporting for Duty"
- a civilian.

{OOC} Dax ... there are no civilians here ... but medical staff are accorded officer status without being line (command) officers ... however, trainee medical staff have the same status as any other ensign - none! {/OOC}

{ooc}For Guard Duty, I assume we are in our service uniform, not combat fatigues or dress whites?{/ooc}

Conrad's uniform differs from that of the "enlisted" soldiers in several distinctive ways--the the black stripe on the outer side of each trouser leg, and the black band just above each sleeve cuff on the green jacket is the most obvious. Additionally, he bears medical insignia on the lapels of his tunic, but his rank epaulets clearly denote him as being a trainee.

Despite his apparent reticence in responding to the officer, his uniform is neatly turned out, as is his outward appearance. Like all of the other synners, his appearance is that of a well-built individual, although it's probable that he possesses the "slightest" build of the group.

That would be correct, and thanks for the visuals!

Looks around the area they're supposed to be guarding, are they watching the top of a stairwell? A Hatchway?

ABC

As they are dismissed ABC takes a look at that doctor.
As expected he wears a different uniform.
Not a normal enlisted soldier, that kind of guy his drill sergeant called civilian.

Then he takes another look who is the commanding officier ?

Here is a map of the Subway station.
Most of the Military personnel exit the Subway car and proceed through the Turnstile/scanners.  The scanners will read the Synners imbedded codes and the regular Humans id cards plus handprint.

Any non military personnel or visiting Military personnel that aren't on file or anyone who encounters a problem at the Turnstiles is to proceed to the Security station at the end.  The Officer in charge for the shift is the person who generally handles this station and will be your Commanding officer for your shift.

Once people are past the Turnstiles and/or Security station, they can proceed into the main part of the zone.
There will generally be five guards on duty, three will usually be in the area between the Subway cars and the turnstile stations.  They can answer general questions and direct anyone to the Security Station that needs to check in there.

One guard is usually at the Security Station as well, just in case of problems there.  There is an additional guard in the area behind the turnstiles, near the entry area to the zone.
The rotation usually is, if a guard in the area between the Subway cars and the turnstiles escorts a person to the Security Station, that guard will then stay at the Security Station, the guard that was at the Security Station will then go to the entry area to the Zone, and the Guard there will move to the area close to the Subway cars.
If 30 minutes goes by without a rotation taking place, whomever has been in the front area the longest will move to the Security Station.

The Commanding Officer today is a Marine named Captain Jackson Ryker, a well tanned human, about 5'8" with reddish blonde hair and quite stocky.

Moves through the gate, then down the platform to stand to the left of the turnstiles, farthest from the security station.

Conrad nods towards the captain, and moves smartly to infront of the set of turnstiles nearest the security station.

"Aye, Sir"

Adam moves to the middle position (the others are manned)
and takes a stance on the left side of the turnstiles.

Alex moves to his exit location. He takes his position out of the flow of traffic, but clearly present and available for assistance or protection.

The assigned positions are fairly flexible, moving around is allowed, particularly when there are no subway cars in the station and there aren't very many people around.
Short bio breaks are also allowed, reducing the number of guards in the front area from 3 to 2 and keeping the other posts manned.  Each guard also gets a 20 minute lunch break in a similar rotating fashion.  You all have headsets and can keep in touch with each other.

Conrad

With half an eye towards the platform where the sub-shuttle is due to pull up, Conrad begins quietly murmuring the Fibonacci sequence ... if someone interrupts him he starts again.

If he's feeling really bored, he may even switch to the Fibonacci Prime sequence ...

Adam

Adam watches the people passing the turnstiles.
No one needs assistance so far, everyone knows what she has to do.

Adam mutters to himself:
"If someone wants to pass, she would act normally, but jump over a turnstiles and run."
Adam looks around:
"Won't it be better if three of us would guard the other side to turn a trespasser down ?"

Adam feels bad, he was talking again like he has to inform an unvisible audience of his inner thoughts:
"You got your orders, follow them !
Captain Jackson Ryker is in command and knows what has to be done."

Adam bits his lips: "I'm doing it again."

*sigh*
