Exploding Die #1
Rolling 1d6+17:
(2)+17: Total = 19

Just FYI, this is a good way to do an exploding die. Remember, if you roll double 6s on any test, you get to roll an additional d6. If you roll a 6 on the exploding die, then you get to roll an additional d6, and so on until you don't roll a 6.

So, when you roll an exploding die, use the dice function and use 1d6+(result of original roll as shown in your post).

"Bridge to Lt. Cmdr. Treyva."

"Treyva here." (wherever he is at the moment)

"Sir, Lt. Welch here. Contact 'Sierra One' has finally left our extreme sensor range; however, just before we lost contact, she made a course correction that will take her directly to the Mutara Nebula."

OOC: How would everyone feel about having time told by bells?

OOC: Not really a bell fan, i'm afraid.

Treyva rose from the desk in his quarters and grabbed his uniform jacket; the updated duty roster would wait.  "Thank you, Michael; I'm on my way to the bridge now.  Treyva out."  With that, he left his quarters and headed for the nearest turbolift.

OOC: I'd've done more, but it's lunch break and I've gotta get back to work. More interesting stuff later.

OOC: Just a quick note; I had the duty science officer contact Treyva because everyone else is presumably asleep (it's around midnight, ship time).

OOC: Bong normally does excersized before his shift and Breakfast, so he'd probably be a sleep.  However, I think it's understood if need be, he can be woken up at any time.

He'll also check on other watches randomly of course.

Striding onto the bridge, Treyva went directly to the science station. "Show me what you've got, Michael." Examining the sensor logs, Treyva nodded and said, "Best we can do running silent, and she's definitely heading into the nebula. Good work, Michael."

He turned to the comm station and asked, "Have we received any response from Starfleet concerning our previous status report?"

OOC: Not going to wake up the boss until I actually have something to tell him. This ship is fortunate in that it has an officer that only sleeps a week out of the year.

The communications technician on duty shakes his head negatively. "We're far enough out that Starfleet Command won't get our message for another day, sir," Chief Nnamdi responds.

Treyva nodded. "I didn't think we'd had enough time, but I had to ask.  Well, let's give them something else to chew on."  He turned to the helm and said, "All stop," before turning back to communications. "Put all of the new information we've received into an encoded transmission and send it to Starfleet Command."

He stepped down into the command well and stopped at the command chair.  "Relieving you," he said to the duty officer.  Sitting down, he brought the comm panel to life and said, "Bridge to the captain."

"Engineering, what's the fastest speed you can give me right now without tearing the nacelles off my ship?"

Oops, I missed this. Yeah, it's a little (okay a lot) late, but the information is important.

"We can sustain warp 7 without placing undue structural damage on the ship," Lt. Konastas replies.

"Thank you, Engineering.", the Captain replied before switching comm channels to the bridge.

The Captain, woke up after a minute hearing the chime from the table in his stateroom.
"Bong.", the Captain answered with a bit of grogginess.

"Sorry to wake you, sir," Treyva told him.  "Sierra One has gone out of our passive sensor range. Just before she did, however, she changed course directly into the Mutara Nebula.  I've taken us out of warp for the moment and have advised Starfleet Command of Sierra One's course change and our loss of sensor contact."

As Ensign Clarke smoothly slows the Drake to station keeping, Chief Nnamdi acknowledges his order and begins his work.

Clarke announces, "Engine Room reports all stop; our position is just inside the boundary of the Mutara Sector."

OOC: FYI, you're still out of long range senor range of the nebula.

"Thank you, Commander for the update.  Make best possible speed until we are in passive sensor range of 'Sierra One', and inform me when we get back in range."

Massaging the end of his left leg just above the interface, he reached over to his artificial leg, and attached it, filling his nervous system with the sudden rush of feeling that he still hadn't gotten use to.  Sometimes he thought to himself he'd never get use to it.

Making his way across the room to a recliner he had brought aboard the ship, he sat down and placed in his lap a portable computer interface.  He began to search for the nearest starbase to their present location, and other ships scheduled to be in the area.

OOC: Do I need to make any rolls?

Also I have my MSN on.

"Aye, sir."  He turned to the helm and said, "Resume previous intercept course, adjusting as necessary, and engage at warp seven.  Let's try to find out where our errant starship has gone."

Rising from the command chair, he turned to the duty officer and said, "The bridge is yours. Notify me and the captain once we regain sensor contact; I'll be in my quarters."

(No roll is necessary, unless you want to risk a botch.)

Starbase 11 is nearest to the Drake's position, although it's only about 25-30% closer to your position than is Sol.

OOC: What about the Nigala IV base-station that I had mentioned in my character history?

Are they back up and running?  Or at the very least do they have a sub-space relay/communication station?
