Treyva smiled, even though the gangster...no, the governor, now...couldn't see it. "Coming from you, Zabo, that means a lot. I've filed a rather lengthy report with my superiors; I think they'll be pleased to see Mac and Car's work bore such promising fruit, even if they didn't live to see it happen." He paused for a moment, wishing that they had visual communications, and then went on. "Remember that Human saying I told you and Tazz about: 'Teach your children well.' You've done a remarkable job, it appears, but let's not forget that it was Bela putting off his teaching that made Vari such a danger.

"I'm sure the Federation will be sending some more advisors, but I think they'll have a lot less to do. You seem to be well on your way.

"Good luck to you, my friend. I hope we'll be able to pass this way again in the future."

"Good luck, Captain," Zabo replies and hangs up the phone.

Dr. Gordon, standing just behind Treyva, leans over with a smile and says, "You seem rather pleased with yourself."

Dr. Gordon, standing just behind Treyva, leans over with a smile and says, "You seem rather pleased with yourself."
Treyva sat down in the command chair and leaned back, letting himself be comfortable for the first time in the last several days. "Is there a reason I shouldn't be? I mean, really, how often does a person get to help usher in a new form of government, and practically a new way of life, for an entire planet? No one died, no stars exploded, no Klingons to be found anywhere. I think we all have cause to feel pleased with ourselves...and you, especially, for what you were able to do for Mr. Teska."

"Well, there are so few options for end-of-life care in a culture like that," the good doctor responds. "He probably had about a year or two left with his condition. I hope I can give him another four or five good years with the treatment. They seem like a nice couple."

Nolmir, Renny, feel free to chime in on the conversation.

At the mention of Mr. Teska, Garav grimaced slightly. "I suppose so. And ever more so after the treatment." Garav turned around to give Treyva a poignant look. "I do believe that dinner was the hardest part of this little escapade. And that counts the firefight that you seem to so quickly forget."

Garav frowned slightly, and when he spoke after a slight pause, his voice no longer carried any levity. "But this almost didn't turn out so well. It's amazing to me how one rash, stubborn 'punk' - I believe is the word - could so nearly topple all of the progress the Iotians had made."

Treyva's brow furrowed a bit. "I didn't forget the firefight, Lieutenant. Far from it, in fact; I'm extremely grateful that no one was seriously injured during that rescue attempt." He straightened slightly in his seat. "And I'm sorry you found the dinner so distressing. We'll continue this part of the conversation later."

He tried to keep his disappointment out of his voice as he continued. "As for one punk undoing things...that's frequently all it takes. The Iotian 'government' was in a very delicate place, and very precariouly balanced there. It still is, really, and that's why I hope they put a new set of advisors on a starship very quickly and get them here at high warp."

Churchill turned in his chair to face the Captain.

"With respect, sir, I think the Iotians would be in lot less comfortable place if you hadn't taken the initiative as you did. A boatload of advisors couldn't have done as well."

Treyva considered this for a moment. "That may be true, Harry, but all I did was force an issue. I can't be here long-term to guide them. That's why they have advisors in the first place. I'm willing to wager that the next crew will be a great deal more judicious about watching the next generation of Iotian leadership than Dr. Carey and Dr. MacIntrye were."

"What about Lt. Hodgkins, then? Why not have him stay behind until the new attaches arrive?" Katrina suggests. "Not that I'm volunteering anyone, but if the government is as fragile as you imply, wouldn't behoove us to keep a man there?"

Treyva turned towards her slowly, his eyes wide. "If you weren't engaged and I weren't married, I might kiss you. That's inspired!" He shrugged. "I'm even slightly annoyed with myself for not thinking of it on my own." Turning towards the science station, Treyva asked, "Paula, do you think Dan Hodgkins would object to a short-term TDY assignment?"

A glint of amusement sparkles in Tyler's eye. "You mean besides the fact that he's a 'Classical Era' man? I think he'd do well as a cultural attache, as long as we can get him back."

He smiled at that. "As I told him a few days ago, we learn by doing. Make the arrangements; I'm sure the ship bringing the actual team can bring him back to us on their way home."

The captain makes arrangements for Lt. Hodgkins to work with Zabo and the Advisory Council, who are happy to have a little Fed guidance as they venture into unknown territory. Hodgkins says he's eager for the chance to work with indigenous peoples and jumps at the chance.

With all the formalities squared away, Treyva finally orders the ship to break orbit. As he does so, he hears Miguel mutter something to himself from his station.

"A problem, Miguel?" the captain asks.

"Not really, sir. I was just monitoring some local radio broadcast and came across an advertisement," the communications officer says. "A word seemed out of place."

"Well, let's hear it," Garav replies.

Miguel taps a few buttons and replays the broadcast advertisement.

"The next wave of home entertainment is here! Introducing the new Northside Industries Transtator Radio! This revolution in electronics will bring crystal clear sound into your home in a receiver half the size of your current cabinet!

"Each radio is encased in a beautiful, hand-crafted wooden cabinet, custom stained to match your decor. With these, you'll be able to take advantage of the new upgraded radio transmitters being installed across the territory! Get them now, only $225!"

"Did you hear it, sir?" Miguel asks.

Harry spoke quickly without thinking, almost to himself.
"Did he say transtator?"

Next to Harry, Kathy's eyes grew wide. "It said transtator?"

Treyva chuckled, then turned the command chair back toward the main viewer. "Things might be more interesting the next time we visit," he said. "The new advisors might have more to do than we thought."

I wonder what this will do to the percentage, he thought. "Harry, take us to warp five; we're overdue for some R&R, I think."

Harry turned his chair back to the forward position, keying in the commands.

"Whatever you say, boss." He froze. "Erm, that is to say aye sir."

That will be enough for everyone to pick up an advancement. But, before you start making picks, please PM me with your choice for best RP for the adventure. Once they're in, I'll give out the bonus XP.

I will send each of you a PM with any requirements I might have for your advancements.

Bonus RP XP
Treyva: 100
Garav: 100
Harry: 150

I have the first scene of the next adventure ready to go and I'm working diligently on the rest of the episode. (I have a neat idea for the one following this, too.)

Once we get the advancements completed, we'll move on.
