OOC: You must still purchase your promotion edge. It's optional this advancement. It may not be optional on the next one. ;D

For now, the only pick-based rewards I'm going to give out free are Renown points. In fact, I'm probably going to pore over all the character backgrounds and dole out background Renown to get everyone on even footing with Sorak's background Renown.

Garav looked particularly at Harry and the newly-recovered Paula. "You have all done extremely well and acted in the best representation of Starfleet. But, just as importantly, I consider you all my friends and I am glad that we were able to overcome this situation together."

Harry had been quietly monitoring his station since returning to the bridge. He'd exchanged pleasantries with the bridge crew when he'd returned but had felt somewhat out of sorts. Seeing Garav's discomfort brought something of his good humour and camaradarie back, however. He smiled reassuringly at Garav, realising that life would go on as it should, and the Drake and he would have new challenges to face.

Treyva watched Sorak leave, then turned back to the viewport. He stood there for a few minutes, then walked over to the same table he'd sat down at only a few hours ago. He keyed the log recorder to life.

Captain's log, supplemental. We have resolved our crisis in a most...unusual manner, and with no further loss of life. The creature has, for all intents and purposes, dismissed us, so we will begin the long journey home soon. I will consult with Lieutenant Garav en route to schedule memorial services for those crewmen lost during the Klingon assault. I will also be preparing messages for their families on the way.

I don't know how this situation with the Klingons will end, but I think we've managed to make at least one friend among them. I don't know that one Federation starship commander being friends with a Klingon science officer will make much difference in terms of relations between our two governments, but it's a place to start.

He keyed it off, and looked out the viewport at the Saratoga and the two K'tinga cruisers. Star Fleet and Klingon ships hanging in orbit, side by side. It wasn't a sight he was likely to see again anytime soon, nor did he particularly want to.

He hit the intercom. "Treyva to Bridge."

"Bridge, Costaluna here, sir."

"Miguel, as soon as the other ships signal they're ready, take us out of orbit at best possible speed. Let's go home."

"Acknowledged, sir. I'll let Mr. Garav know. Bridge out."

He rose, walked back to the viewport, and leaned against the guard rail, gazing out at unfamiliar stars.

OOC: And that about does it for me, I think.
