Long Time Role-Player, New to the Site
« on: July 28, 2010, 10:34:20 PM »
Hey all!  My name is JP.  My screenname was thrust upon me at a Renaissance Faire, where I was fighting sword & shield in, well, a swordfighting tournament.  Some random guy started chanting "Man With Door!  Man With Door!" to cheer me on.  It was awesome, and the nickname sorta stuck.

But anyways, we're here for roleplaying!  I've played at least a dozen systems over the years, as I'm sure many of you have.  I've played many versions of D&D, Legend of the Five Rings, Warhammer, World of Darkness (almost every one of the subsets), SLA Industries, Shadowrun, Serenity, 7th Sea ... and I'm pretty sure I'm forgetting a few.

I'd love to get involved with a few open games at the moment.  I don't quite have the time to run a game quite yet, but hopefully that'll be changing soon.  I've got a few campaign ideas knocking around the ol' brain pan, but those'll have to wait.  Until then, happy gaming, and I hope to be role-playing with many of you soon!

I like it. Such a refined sounding name.

"Leftenant Colonel Manwythe Dore, Commanding Her Majesty's 2nd Cumberland Fusiliers", that sort of thing.

 :mellow:
Fillet of a fenny snake,
In the cauldron boil and bake;
Eye of newt and toe of frog,
Wool of bat and tongue of dog,
Adder’s fork and blind-worm’s sting,
Lizard’s leg and owlet’s wing,
For a charm of powerful trouble,
Like a hell-broth boil and bubble.

Or maybe it's a piece of treasure, "The Fabled Manwyth D'or".

Well if you're going to do that you should probably "go gaelic" with 'Grumpy' and fill it full of odd vowel combinations and strings of silent consonants and about triple its current length.

Oh yes, Titles.  Those are fun.  My Ren Faire character got 'promoted', which in my Guild means more responsibility and longer hours.  A punishment for being around for years and actually showing competence.  Stupid Marines, actually making me work and think and stuff.

So let's see .... Sir Tobias Dahrendorf, High Lord Sheriff of the Kingdom of Denmark, Knight of the Realm, Sergeant of the Royal Guard.  I think I have something in there about being the Knight Sergeant of His Majesty's Horse (i.e. the Cavalry).  But yeah, the fancy titles are for outsiders.  When we're working a Faire or something, saying "Hey Sergeant" is a lot easier.
