They make a few miles out of town before it begins to get dark.

Is he staying to the edge of the mountains heading towards the Arabian Sea, or is he going to descend to the valley?

He's aiming to circle south into the indus valley. . .he's not keen to try getting his mini family adopted by nomads, so he'll be looking for settlements somewhere along the river. . .but hopefully far enough from home to avoid that trouble, before settling.

There is no pursuit chase.

Well, I think we already allocated experience, and reshuffled points. So I guess now I decide how much I want to fast forward. Heh.

Help me out here, how much do you want to fast forward? He would have not trouble finding a new place to settle, and obviously he is in no danger from wild animals or even combat unless it's with another immortal.

I was thinking he'd be a bit more in "be safe" mode than before, hence my semi joke earlier about founding Mohenjo-daro. . .a tectonic ridgeline poking up out of the flood plain, with the folding causing a functioning spring near the top, sounds like a perfect spot to fort up for a slightly paranoid type fleeing trouble.

Hmm. Interesting. I will go on break, and thence to a meeting. It will give me something to ponder. Heh.

(It was not enjoyable. Though it was in the fancy conference room with the big screen TV and all the comfy chairs. Made me sleepy. It is very fortunate for me that developers are given so much leeway.)

The first week of travel is hard on Sankara's wife, though it's far worse for his mother. The second day away from the city, it begins to rain. Not enough to flood, but enough to get the streams going again and probably save some of the crop back at town. Sankara's mother slows their pace considerably, but for once she soldiers on without comment on her plight. His wife resists his touch as she still has nightmares that wake her screaming.

Sankara's anger smoulders with his wife's continued troubles, but he tries to conceal it from her.

As they keep moving, he's looking for game, but can't go far from them, and also keeping an eye out for sign of people.

They see signs of nomads, and Sankara is a good enough hunter that they don't starve. His mother helps out a bit in this regard, having a good eye for game trails.

If we don't find a spot to stick, we keep going until we do, or something causes us to stop.

Ok, to be crystal clear, he is not looking to start his own settlement, or to live alone with his family group, or to move in with nomads. He is looking exclusively for a settlement to join, correct?

He's disclined to move in with nomads, but will if it's the only way to stay alive.

Will start his own settlement, if he can find a spot that's superb, like defensible high ground with water.

Ideally find a new town to settle in to. . .but he won't wildly keep pushing on until mom dies of overwalking.

The term beggers and choosers comes to mind. . .they're not quite beggars, but they're not exactly in a position to choose freely either.
