Looking at Usdrothecks Chargen thread, I realized a few things:* the 100 point was spending was making a great character (James Bond/Leonardo)* my concept of his being an avid outdoors man/hunter will take on a whole new twist* being a good shot with a pistol is a lot harder than being good at quick drawing the pistolI am reworking some ideas to 50 points. I am thinking more of an a consultant who helps clients work through a bureaucracy (state and/or federal) to obtain permits and approvals. Given his age and outdoor bent, he sees the prohibition on guns and hunting as the government overstepping its bounds. He may even have a few older guns stashed along with reloading equipment and a supply of ammo. He knows that the discovery of this will likely end his career, but feels compelled as an old school citizen to keep them. Is the game to be set in Arizona or should we just pick a starting point and then the group will assemble elsewhere? I would have seen him buying a few acres possibly with an old farm house back in the 80’s. This has worked out well as he can raise veggies and keeps a few chickens and rabbits. I would have imagined that the site was located in a rural suburban area with an hour commute to the outskirts of a small city or the typical ring of offices that spring up outside a larger city (where land is cheaper). He would has worked for a firm for a while, but with improving technology and increasing fuel/transportation costs he would have migrated to telecommuting and eventually to private consulting. He would be widower, with two kids in their late 20’s early 30’s. His boy’s have begun their own lives and have moved on. The insurance money from his wife’s death paid off the house and covered the boy’s education. He has been able to make a decent living helping others navigate the increasing bureaucratic landscape although recently land development has been pretty slack. Recently, he has been able to find some clients who wish to permit the construction of large ponds on their property to raise fish.
...He began his career working for a large consulting firm in the suburbs of Cincinnati, Ohio. He would commute from his home daily for about 45 minutes each way. In 1973 he met a Stephanie and fell deeply in love. They married in 1976 and three years later had their first son, Gunther. His brother, Chance was born three years later. With the birth of his first child Luke felt that a proper home was required. After nearly a year of searching they finally found the perfect home. It was a 100-year old farmhouse situated on a few acres. There was a small pond and about 1 acre of the site was wooded.Life was good. Well at least for a while, then Stephanie was diagnosed with cancer. The company was good about letting Luke telecommute several days a week, but in 1995 Steph passed. The insurance money paid off the house and covered both boy’s college tuitions...
