Background

William is a 2nd generation American of German descent. His grandfather in the late part of the 19th century and settled in Wisconsin becoming a successful banker. His father followed in his grandfathers footsteps and has gone on to become big in international business.

Growing up, William had always been more of a bookworm than a sportsman. While the other kids would go out fishing, sailing, hiking, ice-skating, and so on, William was more content to stay at home and read everything he could. His parents were concerned about his becoming to one-sided, so they enrolled him in other activities. Most of the time, William had little interest in them, but horseback riding and piano seemed to have sparked something in him. These two activities he enjoyed more than the others. His dad also forced him to attend language classes in many different European languages because he believed early on that he would go into the business world with him.

Graduating a year early from high school, Willie was accepted into Columbia under a pre-med program. While his father would have preferred him to go into the business, he felt that being a doctor was an equally prestigious job, so approved of William going to Columbia to study pre-med and then onto John Hopkins for formal medical training. Upon graduating Hopkins, he was expected to return home to Milwaukee and start a practice there. In college, he had begun to truly understand that the world was a lot bigger than just Wisconsin and the United States. Through friends he had met, including some who had fled persecution in the rising Nazi government in Germany, he realized the danger that was coming about. When he found out about the Abraham Lincoln brigade, he signed up without giving it a second thought. Here was his contribution in stopping Nazi repression and hopefully getting the Germans to change their government. Even though he deplores fighting, he knew he could at least help heal the injured. He went home to tell his parents about it, but their reaction was not what he expected. Instead of being elated, his dad was furious and forebad him going. When he told his dad that he "was an adult now and can choose what I please", his dad then informed him that if he chose to go, then he would be cut off of his inheritance. Refusing to bow down to his dad's pressures, Willie packed up his few belongings, stormed out, and caught the first boat to Spain.

"How do you hold on to an angel?"

"Hook em by the wing joint. You know where it jogs in there? Clip or a claw... a snare would do it."

Found himself possessed by a demon while working at a hospital near Madrid.

Went AWOL seeking some way to rid himself of it.

Closed his eyes as a possessed priest cut his throat, then bled out on the stone floor of the priests quarters.
