Todd was a little peeved at the man's evasion of a direct question, but thats just what expected from 'nerdy' types like this. Ususally they were full of themselves because they knew stuff and just couldn't be bothered explaining it to less educated people....like he was too dumb to understand or something.

Todd snorts to himself along with his internal dialogue.

He leans over, intersted in what the man has in his bag.

"Enough of this crap, I'm in. Show me what you've got mystery man."

Robert finishes his coffee, stands up and throws the empty paper cup on the ground. "Count me in," he says.

The little man unzipped the bag and turned it over so the team could see the contents. Inside were a half-dozen flashlights, a can of black spray paint, a set of heavy duty bolt cutters, two leather holsters holding small revolvers, a box of shells, and a letter-sized manila envelope. The little man pulled out the envelope, opened it, and spread the contents out on the table. He picked up the first sheet and held it up. "This is a road map to the building--thank you Google Maps--where the witch is currently staying. It's across town from here, but still in a lower middle class neighborhood." He picked up the next piece of paper. It looked to be a postal form of some sort. "This is her current address. She's on the fourth floor of the apartment building, a building very similar to the one she just left. We don't know if she plans to stay there and turn this into her new lair, or if this is just temporary. She is living with a white couple, a man and his wife and daughter. We have no idea how she is connected to those three. I'm guessing she has bewitched them into being her familiars. You'll have to find that out when you get there." He picked up a third piece of paper. It was filled with handwritten notes. "This is a quick summary of building security. Basically . . . it has none. There are security cameras in the stairwells and in the hallways, but I don't know if they work or if anyone is looking at their feeds.  Better safe than sorry though. You can enter through the front or back lobby. Both are unguarded and, thanks to shoddy care, unlocked. There are no security guards or doormen, but you will probably want to go in after dark. The building is on a very busy street during the day, but the place turns into a graveyard after dark."

"Nice choice of words" Josh grumbles "Makes me feel all better about this" He shots the man a glare, then mumbles something about all this being crazy as he sits back in his chair.

Todd leans in further to look at the presented map.

"We can do this. We can get in and out of there easy enough.......if it was just a building. I can axe that chump security, no sweat. But we gotta assume that anyone in the place could be bamboozled by this bitch.....and that gets real tough." says Todd as he rubs the puckered mark on his forearm where the screwdriver went in.

"Right," Robert says, "Killing a witch would be one thing but killing a bunch of innocent people unfortunate enough to have fallen under her spell would be another. How do you suppose we deal with that problem, Mr., eh... what was your name again?" Robert looks at the little man.

"Call me . . . uh . . . Mr. P.  That'll be fine. You just have to find a way to deal with the collateral damage. Your methods worked pretty well on the stairwell, and you were entirely unprepared then.  Now . . . you are the predators. You are prepared" He reached into the bag and pulled out a tire iron, held it up, and then tossed it back into the bag and shrugged. "Do what you have to do. The witch is home now. There's a car waiting outside for you." He pulled a set of keys out of his pocket and tossed them down on the table.

Robert shrugs and looks at the others. "I guess we'd better get going then. Unless some of you are having second thoughts? Now is the time to turn around and leave. But I really feel it is somehow up to us to solve this mess."

"All set then?  Great." The little man stuffed the papers back into the folder and stuffed the folder into the bag. He then pushed the bag across the table toward the team. "You have a number where I can be reached. Call me when you're all done."

The team filed out of the room, leaving behind Mr. P. to drink his coffee. They found the car he had left for them: an old brown station wagon with a Virginia license plate and up-to-date registration and insurance cards in the glove box. The car was registered to one "Clarice Starling." The wagon started right up, and from the sound of the engine, that motor still had quite a bit of life left in it. In fact, it sounded quite healthy.

Gina climbed into the back seat with some of the others. Her posture was stiff and uncomfortable and it didn't look like she was wearing any make-up. The neat appearance and clean, slightly sweet smell that the men remembered was now gone. She looked and smelled like perhaps she had slept in her clothes, more than once.

The trip across town took nearly thirty minutes. They saw the building from several blocks away, poking its head above the tops of the lower, surrounding shops and businesses. This building, for all intents and purposes looked like the building at Comfort Place. It was tall, double-winged, and run down in a run-down neighborhood.

Josh couldn't help laughing a little as he saw the name of the cars 'owner', but apart from muttering something about Mr. P's humoristic sense or lack thereof, he kept quiet the whole ride, still seeming uneasy about the whole matter at hand.

Todd gets the distinct impression that Mr. P knows all too well what may happen to the group in this hunt. It seems to him that the small group is just a convenient tool for some shady organisation, whether that was government or private he didn't know.

As they pulled up outside the building, Todd asks the others,

"So how are we going to go about this? It shouldn't take me long shut down the security system, but I'm more worried about running into people on lookout. If its like before, the witch will have already bamboozeled someone to act as eyes, ears and muscle. We need a plan of action for this."

He looks around at the others.

"It's not easy," Robert says looking at Todd, "I am sure none of us has been in a position like this before."

He pauses and thinks for a few seconds. "I think we should disable the security system and try to enter the building from the back entry. I am not sure that the witch will necessarily have look-outs waiting. For one, she doesn't know that we are on to her and probably feels safe enough in her new hiding place. Secondly, well, I don't know how witchcraft works but I would imagine that it would be kinda difficult to keep a large number of people under a spell for a long period of time. If you think back at our previous meeting, the poor people there did not attack us until after we had actually met the witch in the stairwell. I don't think there's reason to believe that they were already bewithced when we first arrived."

The team inconspicuously circled the building in the wagon. As they cruised along the "side street" that ran behind the building, they didn't see anyone back there.  There were several cars parked along the narrow street, and a few dumpsters, but no people, no one who looked like a lookout. The team did see the back door. It stood in the middle of the rectangular building. The door looked to be made of metal. A video camera was mounted about 10 feet above the door.

"There's the back door." Robert nods his head in the direction of the door. "I think we should go in that way and try to stay unnoticed. That means disabling that video camera with a bit of finesse. Would that be a job for you, Todd?"

"I can take that out, no sweat. It shouldn't take long." says Todds calmly patting his toolkit.

Todd grabs his gear and moves quietly and calmly, looking for the electrical junction box that controls the security system. When he finds it, he puts his kit on the ground and takes out the items he needs.

Standing back up he galnces about to make sure no one is about, then opens the box and begins to work.

The team parked the car on the street with the others. It was nondescript enough to blend in easily. The electrical box was to the right of the door, about one hundred feet  from it. It didn't take Todd long to get it open and to disable the cameras in a way that wouldn't trigger any automatic alarms. Their only concern now was if someone was watching a monitor go blank when the power was cut, but from the look of this  building, that didn't seem likely.

The only thing standing between them and the entrance now was the locked door.

Todd doesn't waste any time after the security is disabled, he utters a brief "Got it" before he puts his tools back in the open bag, which he then picks up and heads for the entry door.

Withdrawing a set of lock picks from a nylon case he inserts one endthe probes into the lock and begins to twist.

As the lock gives way, Robert smiles approvingly at Todd. "You seem to have tried that once or twice before."

He then looks at the others and whispers with a silent force: "Okay, we go in now. Remember to stay quiet."
