After dinner Luke looks at Chance and says, “Chance, I don’t mean to get your hopes up just to dash them, but maybe we should wait to fish together until after Wednesday. You are the only one who can identify the other members of your cell.  If they are watching me, it might not be good to be seen with someone that matches your general description.  Once I leave, it is probably fine for you to go out to fish.

“I will be back tomorrow to get you so that we can pick-up the rental car for our trip into the City.  In the meantime, have you given any thought to a larger vehicle?  Originally I was thinking a van, but a school bus might be better is we are planning on using it mainly during the day.  What do you think?  I figure I will check a couple of junk yards and see what we can find cheap.  With the fuel consumption we might want to consider diesels, but a gas guzzler would probably be much cheaper.”

"Hey, find a VW van. We could paint it psychedelic colors and travel around going to Rainbow Nation gatherings." he grins.
"How do you hold on to an angel?"

"Hook em by the wing joint. You know where it jogs in there? Clip or a claw... a snare would do it."

Somehow, I don’t know that a psychedelic VW bus is exactly what I had in mind.  As opposed to remaining inconspicuous, that would draw the attention of the authorities.  Let’s just see what they have at the junk yards.  We don’t have to make the call right now.  Maybe we’ll get lucky at the meeting on Wednesday and we won’t need anything larger.

"Well we can certainly keep that in mind, especially if we need to fall off the grid for a while.  Also if we get separated we can try to find each other each year at the gathering.  I will head home now and will be down later tomorrow to get so that we can get a rental car.  Anything else you need?"

"Alright then, I'll see you tomorrow.  Have a good nght, son."  Luke heads home using the back roads and keeps an eye out for any sign of a tail or watchers.

He doesn't notice anyone watching.

Luke parks the car in the barn and enters the house through the mud room door.  Once inside he relocks the door and heads to the stove to make a cup of tea, but then thinks better of it and grabs a tumbler and fills it with ice.  Then he heads to the liquor cabinet and pours himself some bourbon.  He sits in the living room for a while and contemplates their situation and options.

As he licks his lips, his first thought is we will need to see if anyone from the cell shows up at the community center.  If not we probably need to consider moving on.  But going on the road will mean getting a larger vehicle.  Just how big is the question?  There are many merits to something much larger—enough space for us to sleep in; hell, live in; plenty of room to store equipment; and should we find others, there would be room for them.  However, bigger vehicles are fuel hogs; they are much more conspicuous, and they don’t maneuver well in cities.

After a long sip of bourbon, he savors the liquor in his mouth for a few moments before swallowing.  Then he thinks about being on the road.  We are either going to run away, or run toward something.  If we are running away, following the Rainbow Family might be as good an option as any.  It would not be what the government would expect and an agent would be hard pressed to penetrate the hippie/bohemian society.  However, that feels a lot like turning our backs on the rest of humanity and letting these Prolockians have their way without a fight.

After another long slow sip of bourbon he continues his musings.  If we are going to take the fight to the Prolockians, we will need to become urban warriors.  It seems obvious that humans still outnumber them, so they are attempting to control the media in an effort to control the masses.  If that is their goal, the larger the cities the more likely the Prolockians are to be present.  The more Prolockians the more likely we are to find a those opposing them, whether  or not they are part of the AFF.

Given the options we will need to see what happens on Wednesday.   But after that Chance and I will need to make our own decisions as to what to do and that will likely determine what each of us will do next.

Luke gets up and moves to the computer, taking his drink along with him.  He takes a few more sips while waiting for the computer to startup.  Once he is on-line, he searches for a ranking of the top media markets.  He pays special attention to the markets in the mid-west, looking for the closest and largest market.  Once he finds the largest closest market he makes a mental note and then deletes his browsing history.  He shuts down the computer and finishes his drink.

Then Luke checks to be sure that the front door is still locked before he heads upstairs.   Once upstairs he takes  quick look around before getting ready for bed.  Then he slips into bed and drifts off quickly.
