He is a Gestapo Sturmmann. Hoffman has not seen Gestapo in Spain before.

(No worries. I'm just trying to get a picture in my head. Are we talking the classic black Allgemeine SS uniform, or is it grey service uniform, plain black cuff and collar and SD sleeve badge?)

Hoffman continues to lie in bed. In his condition he can do little else, but his mind begins to work.

Why the guard? It's not like Josef was even capable of walking away, much less escaping.The fact that the guard wore a strange service uniform, devoid of rank bothered him the most.

Are they interested in me or who did this to me?

Hoffman knows better than to expect any answers from mysterious guards, so he sits tight, rests and waits for the man to ask him questions to arrive.

The guard notices him stirring.

"You are awake yes?" he asks.

"Understood." he replies and then rests his head back onto the pillow.

Hoffman is excited and then scared quickly afterwards. There was only one reason the Fuhrer could be personally interested in him.
