Pretty much... I'm trying to explain it to a regular guy who doesn't already know maths.

Still, it's what a navigator would have to do in character.

Trigonometry... of all those people who said 'I'll never use this in real life' and I go an use it recreationally.

Hey Espatier is there a reason you have 74 skill points? I can't remember if you got a mind card or something in your history... and I can't find your history.

It's probably buried in my email or PMs somewhere.

Please call me richard

How many points was I to have? I'll have to check it as well. Mind card sounds familiar with my background but I not 100%

I do remember trying to list everything as well as the points for the game in a thread if that helps out.

is that something that I can place on the card or do I need to cut some points?

Skills will advance fairly quickly, especially if you put more points towards them.

Some of them overlap, where you have Artistry/Sculpture (Cosmetic Surgery) you can get away with using Medicine/Surgery... so if you took that off it'd save you 6 points.

We can say you got a mind card for something like d6 Science which would account for the other 6 points bringing you down to 62 total.

I've been looking for Mind Card stats in the equipment, it seems I never rewrote them after the Alpha for some reason... I know they're expensive though.

In any case whatever you decide to do you can always get the skills back later.

I was just working on a character for the game and realized there was no skills section in the Beta either...

...guess I was right in making it a Beta release, a lot it missing that I didn't even notice.

Terrorform incorporates skills from Cortex and Serenity and new ones (not many) so I made up a complete list of all the skills, some overlap and some specialties are the same but have different basic skills.
I haven't changed any of them or what they do, just incorporated them so now hopefully it'll be less confusing.

Thanks for the updated skill list. I'll have to make a few final tweaks, then submit it to you for approval before posting in the character section. I also have a character sketch ready that I will try to post here.

It sounds like navigation is serious business. I can only imagine trying to hit a moving, pinpoint target in the vastness of space. It's a good thing we have astromech droids to calculate... Oh wait, this is not Star Wars. So there's manual calculation of higher math? This really IS a horror game!  For the benefit and safety of all involved, I will go ahead and un-volunteer my character for navigation. Somehow I managed to complete a degree program without ever touching Trig or higher math. Oh the humanities! They are great academic disciplines, and delightfully math-free.

Ok, I'm trying to upload the character image, but there's no option to select a file to attach. Celedor's  thread "How to insert a picture or file in a post" from 2009 gives directions that appear to be no longer working. Any advice?

Thank you Harlequin. That's similar to what Celedor's post said, however, when I click  'attachments and other options' I get only three check boxes: 'notify me of replies, return to this topic, and don't use smileys.' No other options appear, which unfortunately means there is no option to browse for attachments to post. It could be that my permissions need to be adjusted by an admin. I'm a newbie to this forum after all, so I could see why they would be hesitant to grant attachment-posting powers to an untested member.

In the meantime, I have emailed a character pic to you. Please let me know what you think. I may need you to post it on my behalf.

Should look like this.

There are some screwy things though, for instance I can't make a thread in the 'active games still recruiting' thread

If you can't upload them here upload them to some other picture site and use the picture link button to copy and paste the image location.

Thanks for posting the screen shot, and what superb timing! I was just thinking about doing that same thing, but I realized I still can't upload files. When I open the attachments button, it looks different than the image you posted. The browse button is just absent. There are check boxes, then the horizontal line, followed immediately by the shortcut key commands and post/ preview. I've notified the site admin of the problem. In the grand scheme it's not such a big deal. But at least I know I'm not crazy... or not too crazy.

I'll take any recommendations about image hosting sites too. I've not bothered to use one previously.

I use deviantart... just because I found out that at some point in the past decade I had an account there for some reason.

Not really sure why, but now I use it for all my scrap uploads and whatnot and it's pretty good... no complaints.

If everything went according to plan, there is an image of my character below this text:

You need to right click on the image and select 'copy image location'.
Then put it in the [img][/img] brackets.
