Arcaene nods.
"Okay, good, let's go..."

He stands up, looks about, slightly aimlessly...
"Which way's Kansas?"

"Oh, and just to let you know... I've never been there, so it'll be rather difficult for me to just gate there... Thoughts?"

Hello, IT, did you turn it off and turn it on again?

Don't think of it as being vastly outnumbered. Consider it a target-rich environment.

I'm being extremely clever up here and there's no one to stand around looking impressed! What's the point in having you all?

Runway - Freedom Hall, meeting room

Runway turns to Vigilance, but the jet biker doesn't show any consideration to invite Arcaene for a ride to Kansas.

Another thought appears in Runway's mind.
"How far is it to Kansas, Teacher ?", the speedster talks to the keyboard again,
"and how long will it take us to get there ?"

The speedster points to Vigilance and makes it perfectly clear that he means him running and Vigilance flying.

Freedom Hall
Jordan Thomas - Vigiliance

Jordan is sitting down wiating and realizes that they are going to take the long way...

"I thought that a quick breach in and out would be better. If we are to go in the long way, then that is fine with me...."

"Teacher, please plan the route and send it to my nav computer on the bike please."

He then turns to the team...

"Shall we head out?"
You fool! You fell victim to one of the classic blunders! The most famous is never get involved in a land war in Asia, but only slightly less well-known is this: never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Ha ha ha...  - Vizzini

Arcaene stands up, adjusts his cloak (at least as much as it will let him, it seems to have a mind of its own, you see...), clicks his heels three times...
"Left my little dog at home, but I'm ready to hit Kansas..."

Look at me still talking when there's Science to do.
When I look out there, it makes me glad I'm not you.
I've experiments to run.
There is research to be done.....on the people who are still alive.
