Playing in the "Real" World
« on: November 23, 2012, 11:30:57 PM »
Since picking up the RM2 genre books, and, latterly, the Rolemaster Rome book, I've been more and more inclined to play and GM in a version of the "real" world that has magick, but not elves, orcs et al. Anyway, I call it playing in the "real" world, allowing for the possibilities of history and the campaign diverging.

I'd love to hear from you: have you played in similar campaigns, and how did it go? How interesting would playing in such a game be for you? How does the idea of, say, picking a base setting or time, and producing books to cover the "entire" world of that time grab you?

Or feel free to natter. :)

ciao!

I've toyed with the idea of a historical RM2 game based in the Dark Ages. I thought that the Adept profession would be perfect!

I agree: the Adept profession would be perfect. I had toyed, at one time, at adapting the Ars Magica setting to RM2, but never got beyong inchoate notes.
