Queen of the Spiders
« on: March 01, 2013, 07:23:49 PM »
On another board I came across a DM who was going to run Queen of the Spiders a classic series of modules. He was overwhelmed with responses and it occured to me that in the 32 years I've been playing D&D, I've never played those modules . . . and I want to . . .
I started with the basic boxed set then went to 1st ed. AD&D. So I would love to play Queen of the Spiders 3.5, 1st ed style with:

Only classes in the the PHB
Humans can only have one class
Other races must be multi-classed with two classes, one of which must be their preffered class, with at least half their levels in their preffered class.

This site does not support D&D or D20.

Indeed. There are plenty of places you can play D&D, here we try and support other games.

You could use the modules, just run them in another system.

Banned is a harsh word. Our remit is to cater to non d20 games which get lost or overlooked, to give them a home and a voice online.

The first modules I played were the AD&D G1-3 Against the Giants modules which eventually led into the D1-D2 modules finishing off the the Vault of the Drow and Queen of the Demonweb Pits.... Yes, d20 games aren't encouraged here, though it doesn't stop you talking about them...:)
It is quite possible to convert them to another system... I've been doing it for years, with many of the more "ancient" TSR modules, which shows the utility of the module system when the scenario is a good one... another good example is the U1-U3 "Saltmarsh" series. This I've used for a linked set of Call of Cthuhlu modules with a small amount of converstion!.
...this isn't a site that "hates" D20, just one that wants to give the options to it a chance ;).
It's a great set of modules and brings back many memories (all good).

At one time, I thought about converting the G series of module to HarnMaster. You'd obviously have to tone down the encounters significantly though.
