The party moves through the large vacant gatehouse room and into a large (300' by 300') room that appears to have once been similar to the earlier room with the Šēdū statues.  However, the most noticeable difference with this room is that some kind of catastrophic event has caused a gigantic rift in the floor.

The side of the room nearest to your entrance tilts at a sharp angle which falls to the southeast corner, so that at its most extreme point, it's 50' below the level of the even part of the floor.

Through the gap, you can only see a dark void -- presumably into the rooms on the level below you.

On the other side of the rift, the floor is level, so that it would be an easy Climbing maneuver to climb towards the northeast corner, and then cross over via the northern side of the room.

There were once two Šēdū statues here in the middle of the room, but both of them lie tumbled and broken on the floor.

The astrologer points to the upper door on the other side of the room from your entrance.  "Through there," he says.  "We're close."



OOC:  You entered from the eastern entrance.  I have zero artistic talent, and this is a really hard thing to depict.  The gap is what's important, and the way that the floor drops down in the bottom corner.

Handing his lamp to Murdas, Klumenos will move as quietly as possible following the east wall to the right up to the corner and then head north along the wall opposite the rift to the door in the middle of that wall. (coming through the east entrance turns right to corner then left to door in middle of that wall.)  He is most concerned about approaching the doorway quietly.

DW:  Yes.  That seems like the best path.  The astrologer wants you to go to the most northern door of the two doors on the western side.

Just X: Klumenos's Stalking Attempt: Success!  You glide through the shadows towards the northern door.  You're beyond the scope of the lamp you handed to Murdus, and so you can see nothing beyond the doorway.  The place is as silent as a tomb.



By now, everyone has noticed a faint breeze which issues from the rift in the floor, and seems to pass around the group through the door by which you entered.  It carries a stale odor.

The rest of the group catches up to Klumenos, where he waits by the north door.  As the light penetrates the hallway, you see a corridor with an open doorway on the left further down.  The walls of the corridor are lined with weathered bas reliefs of humanoid figures, and a long band of writing.

Looking at the text Klumeons realizes despite his learning he cannot read the text.  So he moves back out tot he main room and north along the west wall to the limit of the lam's light.
