Treyva considered that for a moment, then nodded. "That makes sense," he said. "Perhaps we can find some way to use that to our advantage."

The Surveillance Team
Schrepfermann smiles pleasantly, though Cole detects something darker behind it. “Well, I hope I’ve surpassed your expectations,” he says, his voice a little cooler than it was a moment before. Then, as quickly as it appeared, the darkness in his smile is gone, and he gestures toward the dining table. “Come, let’s have a drink while we wait for dinner; I’d love to hear about your life in Starfleet so far.”

As the trio follow the disgraced captain to dining area, a human woman in their standard black uniform enters the common area and walks over to the billiard table. She speaks to Niro, and he follows her back the way she came. His gaze falls squarely on the newcomers, a self-satisfied smirk forming on his lips as he disappears from view.

The Sabotage Team
Garav and Ally move forward in concert and enter the yacht. All is quiet for a solid minute; two phaser shots ring out and, a short time later, Ally pokes her head out the airlock and waves the captain and Sorak in.

The interior is nothing, if not luxurious. Whomever paid for Schrep’s ship certainly spared no expense on its appointment. The bulkheads themselves seemed to be lined with rich-grained wood paneling, and even the access panels were covered with it.

From the airlock, they reach a central corridor that seems to traverse the ship from stem to stern. Looking forward, they see Garav securing one technician just aft of the bridge; Ally is entering a door at the aft end, beyond which seems to be a smallish engineering space.

The Surveillance Team
Beverages of choice ordered and delivered, Schrepfermann again prompts the two escorts to share their stories.

Cole plays to his gregariousness, enjoying his beverage and recounting his pre-arranged cover story, laying on the Australian charm heavily.

(OOC: Assuming that his injury will have been included in the cover story, Cole will be happy to talk about this, even down to showing scars etc.)

After Cole finishes, Tobin tells Schrepfermann his part of the cover story, relating how Cole and Katarina recruited him to analyze data to help track down her father. "And," he says as he finishes his tale, speaking with careful politeness and neutrality, "I know something of what it feels like to feel real but unwarranted shame. I felt the least I could do was to help make sure your daughter made it here safely to speak with you."

Treyva looked around as he followed Ally into the engineering space. "This seems a trifle...excessive," he said. Turning to Sorak, he added, "He can fix it as fast as you can break it, so multiple points of failure would seem wise." He looked at the engineering systems. "I'd like to properly repay him for what happened to my bridge. I don't suppose we could rig something small but critical to blow up when he tries to go to warp? Something non-lethal?"

Spock helped Scotty with intermix formulae more than once, notably in ST:TMP. Treyva might also be interested in doing something similar: jacking with the intermix formula to reduce efficiency if he does manage to get to warp. Sugar in the gas tank, basically.

OOC: Just as a reminder, Mia didn’t change much about your covers; just enough to say that Katya met both of you earlier than she actually did (to allow that the three of you tracked her father down on your own).

The Surveillance Team
“So, Schatzi, you have your friend, and you have your champion,” Schrep teases, making his daughter blush slightly.

“They’re both good men, Papa,” she responds, casting Cole and Tobin a grateful glance. The slight smile on her lips fade as she sees Niro return to the room, walking with purpose toward them. He isn’t smiling, but his eyes shine with a malicious satisfaction.

OOC: Going to hold here on the cliffhanger, so I can catch up Treyva and Co.

The Sabotage Team
OOC: Yes, you two can collaborate to adjust the intermix formula to effectively half the ship’s warp output until it’s corrected. It won’t necessarily damage the yacht, but she’ll seem sluggish at warp (and, hopefully, catchable).

Let’s go with a Daring + Engineering for Sorak vs. Difficulty 2, assisted by an Insight + Science for Treyva.

Treyva Assist
Insight (9) + Science (4) = TN13

Rolled 1d20 : 12, total 12

Here's hoping.

Sorak Daring (7) + Engineering (5) = 12 total. Warp Engines focus should apply.

Daring isn't my strong suit. If we have enough Momentum, I'll spend 1 to get another die. If we Donny, I'll use Threat.

Rolled 3d20 : 4, 10, 10, total 24

Perhaps we should do a little exposition to set up those rolls....

Looking around the room some more, Treyva said, "I know you had said something about modifying the drive circuitry," he said, his eyes settling on the warp systems control console. "I have an idea for another layer of disruption."

Turning to the Vulcan engineer, he went on. "The circuit swaps should keep them from getting to warp in the first place, but we both know how good he is. He'll fix that. So we have to presume he'll get to warp." He patted the console with one hand. "So what if we also, as the Humans say, monkey around with his intermix formula?"

I read 3 Momentum. I think one should go back to cover the extra die. I also think using the other two to make it harder for Schrep to find and fix the programming changes would be in order.

What do you think, Doug?

OOC: 1 Momentum spent. 5 Successes vs. Difficulty 2. Success, plus 3 Momentum generated.

The result of the attempt is that the warp drive is temporarily disabled and unusable until repaired, and the intermix formula is fouled, limiting the ship to wf 5/6/7 until it is corrected.

1 Momentum is banked, and the other 2 are spent on a complication toward restoring full warp power. We'll call it "Intermix Muckup".

Current
Momentum 4
Threat 11

Spaceworthy Cover Advantage (Katarina, Cole, & Tobin for their backstory on why the boys are helping her)
Familiar Systems Advantage (operating or manipulating Schrep's Sensor Suite)
Showing Your Hand Complication (Niro knows something's going on, and any attempts to "play it cool" or deflect suspicion will only heighten it)
Intermix Muckup Complication (any attempt to restore full warp power on the yacht)

On a side note, I forgot to include one tidbit about the yacht. You gents did see the full name of the ship painted on the side, near the airlock. He calls it, of all things, Katarina's Shield.

The Sabotage Team
It takes some time, but Sorak and Treyva are able to disable the warp system and foul the intermix formula. Even as brilliant an engineer as Schrepfermann is, it'll take him some effort to reverse their meddling. It is, at least, a satisfactory result.

The Surveillance Team
Niro moves to Schrepfermann's side and whispers something in his ear. The engineer's brows furrow with concern, and he looks at the each of his guests in turn. He waves over a pair of guards.

"It seems there are a couple of things that need clearing up," he says, his tone polite. "First, there seems to be a glitch in our sensor net; do you three happen to know anything about that? Second, one of you may have some sort of passive sensor device on your person. Could you please give it to me?"

Niro chimes in. "I'm sure you have friends on the compound. I've sent guards to our reactor room and the yacht. They won't get away."

The Sabotage Team
As the captain and XO are fastening the last of the access plates in the engineering compartment, Garav appears in the central corridor and calls out, "We have company, gentlemen. At least six guards just exited the lift."

Got a copying of questions about my idea.

1) Does the yacht have a transporter? How big and is it powered?
2) Is there a wooded area either close to the house or close to the gate we could possibly transport to before the guards get here?

OOC: Responses to Doug.

1. No transporters (it looks like all of her engine power goes straight to the warp drive and luxuries). But, you also know you're still under the compound's shield; you couldn't transport outside of it anyway (and Mia can't pull you out with the Chris.

(No transporters also partially explain why there's an underground tunnel between the house and the yacht.)

2. There are some small some distance from the wall. The compound has a significant clearing around its walls.

On a side note, I forgot that I mentioned a small number of household reactors underground. So, you folks know, in general, that the line of the subterranean corridors intersect in the general vicinity of those reactors.

The Surveillance Team
"Sensor glitch?" she repeats, her face pinching inquisitively. "No, I don't know anything about that."

OOC: I'm going to do a couple quick rolls to see if she's able to pull this off. Her Presence + Command vs. her father's Insight + Security (assisted by Niro).
Katya Presence (8) + Command (4) vs. Difficulty 1
Rolled 2d20 : 1, 15, total 16

Dietrich Insight (8) + Security (2) vs. Difficulty 2
Rolled 2d20 : 5, 20, total 25

Niro Insight (9) + Security (3) assist, Reading Others focus applies
Rolled 1d20 : 10, total 10

OOC: Katya has 2 Successes vs. Difficulty 1; Success, plus 1 Momentum generated. Shrepfermann has 2 Successes vs. Difficulty 2; Success (and a Complication generated). Katya wins the social challenge.

Schrepfermann gains the Complication "Katya is Blameless." Also, he generates the Complication "Do Not Challenge My Authority," meaning he won't listen to any arguments that relate to any subterfuge on her part. I'll bank the Momentum generated on your behalf.

"See, Niro? I told you my daughter wouldn't lie to me," Dietrich says, smiling proudly.

Niro, seething, points at Tobin and Cole. "All right, but what about these two? You may be willing to blind yourself to her culpability, but they're also Starfleet," he counters angrily. "You know the one works for Treyva."

"My daughter vouches for them," the captain replies, dismissing the argument.

"Maybe they duped her," the Deltan offers.

Schrepfermann's eyes narrow as he stares down his associate, but he turns and steps up to the two officers. "Very well. Do either of you have any sort of recording device or portable sensor on your persons?"

I figured the shield was still up, which is why i wanted to beam to elsewhere on the grounds. So much for that plan...

So is there only one entrance to the yacht? No cargo dots our anything?

OOC: So, I completely screwed up the answer to question 2. I was thinking surrounding the compound, not on the grounds. There are a couple areas with a few trees clustered together for decorative purposes, but nothing that would be considered "wooded."

The yacht has only the one primary airlock. There is a small cargo lift  that goes to ground in the common area (which is just ahead of engineering, on the port side) for bringing up supplies; the ship doesn't have a cargo bay of any real kind, just a couple small storage areas. The cargo lift is a tight squeeze for more than two people at a time; however, you could lower it, and let folks climb down on their own. That said, the cargo lift being on the ground is obvious.

Sorak looks sharply at the Andorian and raises an eyebrow. "My first suggestion, Mr. Garav, would be to close and lock the airlock before they see it is open. That also might give us some time to develop a plan."
